The 14th Annual Cowichan Rally in the Valley Land Rover weekend - Sat June 11th

Come on out to the Sutfins Farm, located 4 miles north of Duncan just off the Island highway and close to amenities. Land Rover Social Gathering. Rover-Landers are welcome to camp out in the fields on Friday and Saturday nights. There will likely be one off road run on Saturday (Depending on access) Arrive Friday evening or before 9am Saturday morning if you plan to go on the off road run.

This is the 14th LR Rally in the Valley, don't miss it, hoping to see another good turn out for 2016
Family friendly, great social event, Camp fire on Saturday night (bring your marsh mellows!
Even if you don't want to go on the off-road runs, come on out for the Saturday afternoon and evening, field gathering, kick some tyres, mingle and talk Land Rovers ...

Location / Directions - Meet at Greg's Property, four miles north of Duncan, BC. 48 49' 13.44" N 123 41' 9.23" W

If you're on Vancouver Island, head for Duncan. On Highway 1 about three kilometres north of Duncan, there's a traffic light at Highway 18 (48. 48' 60" N 123. 43' 04.95" W). Turn EAST, the east side of this intersection is Herd Road. Go 2.3 kilometres along Herd Road and turn south (right) onto Mays Road. We live on the corner of Mays and Herd 48 49' 13.44" N 123 41' 9.23" W. The house is a hundred metres or so along Mays on the left. Grey wood siding with a blue steel roof. There is a red barn with a galvanized steel roof right beside the road and house. The address is 6905 Mays Road South. The meeting area is in the field behind the house, take the narrow driveway beside the barn and park in the field.

The pot luck is a very casual affair, bring something to share in your cooler or pick up something in Duncan after the Saturday run.

Hope to see you there, (some photos below of last years event)

Cheers,
Andy

I think I will try to make it, pending the wife and family not torpedoing my plans!
I'm unfortunately roverless right now as my project is the better part of a year or more away from being mobile

So far the stars are in alignment and I'll be there Saturday morning although my ex-wife would almost certainly disapprove :|

I'll probably, might, should be, want to, willingly maybe, sort of, possibly, be there. But I'll have to check the farmer's almanac, Beaufort Scale and the want ads in the Georgia Strait before committing. Geez guys just come on the run or don't....

I'll be heading out Friday afternoon-ish. I have a side trip planned to pick out Rover parts so I might jam out of the Saturday run depending on how long, where, etc. if I can't get the parts Friday. :bigsmurf:

The curse strikes again... you would think that with all the time my truck is at the shop that it would be in perfect shape.... I had starting issues about a year and a half ago, replaced the battery and all had been hunky dorry untill the last couple of months.. my battery isnt holding a charge more than a week... i dont use it that often so i just jump it with a jumper pack and away i go... i did that last night to get ready for the trip, charged up the battery and this morning it was dead again... i drove it into work and will check it when i leave at around 1 oclock...

i have a booster pack and cables and hopefully with that and some friends in the event my booster pack doesnt hold out, im going to chance it.

Hi Victor,

Thanks for the update, sounds like a great weekend!

Hi Mark,

Which ferry are you on? Don't worry we can keep you "boooosted" - Sounds like you have something slowly draining the battery when not in use or your alternator is not charging well? We can all take a look under your seat  at the field meet and you will gets lots of veteran advice I'm sure :bigsmurf:

Great weekend, everyone now home safe and sound. Awesome time that went something like this...

Friday Evening - Campfire and refreshments on the Sutfin's Farm
Saturday morning - Head out in Land Rover convoy, nice drive through the forest to a HUGE old wooden railway tressle.
Saturday Lunch - In the hay barn on Oliver's Farm, followed by a tour of the very cool "robotic milking system" (not a human hand involved!)
Saturday Afternoon - Off-road fun in the woods on private acreage. (only one LR was wounded!)
Saturday Evening - Tasty Potluck Dinner & BBQ followed by a big campfire smore's and refreshments
Sunday morning - Pancake, Bacon, Sausage, Eggs, Maple syrup washed down with coffee, Breakfast of Champions!
Sunday morning - Off-Road run to "the Top of the World" and across the mountains ...
Sunday afternoon - head for the Ferry!

Thanks everyone who made the effort to come out and join in and enjoy the 14th Valley in Rally. Kudo's to the friendly Island folk who put in a lot of effort to make it a great weekend.

Lots of photos are in the photo gallery http://roverlanders.bc.ca/gallery/view_ ... e=album601

Cheers, Andy
