Re: 1966 Series IIa - BC company trucks?

My 56 S1 also originally blue had the steel strengthening surround. It went completely around the slam/breakfast panel and over the wings. I still have mine but didn’t use it on the rebuild. They stopped the wings from bouncing but most created fairly severe galvanic corrosion underneath.

I went with Rocky's on my 56 Series 1. They definitely sit higher in the rear, but I suspect with age and weight they will eventually settle down a bit, but will always be higher due to the design. Why discs? Lot more $$$ to set up.

A properly set up drum brake system works well. Basic and easy to maintain imo.

Biggest problem is drums is making sure you clean them after getting them dirty.

They are more than adequate for the 2.25 engine. :rev:

Also check your fuel tank. Could be crud blocking the pickup allowing enough to start and idle but not enough when under load.
Had similar symptoms with my S3 and after chasing down carb, lines, filters, turned out to be the crap in the tank blocking the pickup.
