Capstan winch drive

After a bit I got tired of the b.s. pulled the air filter hose off filled up a squirt bottle full of diesel turned the motor over and let it have it , fired a few times then it started .

I actually ran both returns to tank , also installed an electric pump and filter before the lift pump also . Still wasn't easy getting it running .

Thanks Oliver , the stop solenoid works , I can't seem to find the other bleeder on the pump , there is one on the top but that's all I can see , where would the other one be located ?. I was getting a little fuel at number 1 injector , but just a little bit . The pump has sat for 2 years so iam hop...

Bleeding Cav pump

Hoping someone can help out , tried to start the 2.5 today but cannot seem to get more than a dribble of fuel out the IP lines . Filter is bled and I've undone the little bleeder screw on the top of the pump until fuel came out . Is there more than one bleeder on the IP pump ? What have I missed her...

The series 2a iam building , didn't realize they came in some defenders . Was kind of bothering me about using them for the rebuild , I already have them just wondering if it's worth the money buying the steel Lucas ones

Has anyone used the plastic headlight buckets , ordered a pair expecting them to show up metal , do I order the metal Lucas ones or just use these ? Guess they won't rust but are the lights easy to adjust etc etc thanks

Some more progress , put the rad and engine oil cooler on today , waiting for some pieces to continue wiring . Hoping to be able to start it soon .

I ended up putting a military engine cooler in for the 2.5 diesel, or in the middle of doing that , with that installed .there is no way the hood latch is going in there with the cooler , could of went another route I guess but iam commited now . I guess the question is what is the purpose of the check valve ? Will it be needed if i plumb both return lines back to tank and block the top fitting and the two side fittings on the filter housing.

I emailed defenders North he recommended that both the return from the pump and the return from the injectors go to tank not the filter as this can cause air entrapment in the system and cause the motor.to run crappy . So how important is the check valve on the return line then ? I bought the lines ...

This is a stretch but looking for a early series 2 / 2a square top rad , one without cracked tanks , the 3 I've taken to the rad shop were nfg , all had broken tanks the guy at the rad shop said he could solder up the cracks but they would just break again . Thanks Troy

Changed from a single master cylinder to dual power brakes , type 50 booster with a d110 master cylinder, with this and disc brakes on the front and stock 88 drums on the back should I be putting a proportioning valve on the back brakes ? Does anyone have any experience in converting to power brakes...

Thanks I'll give them a call , how about the route , have you seen them go behind the speedo and then up ? The vent controls I have are the knob type not the lever . With the hoses routed behind they get squashed.

I contacted Turner's and they have a kit , that comes with a plate and a plug , have to pull some stuff off the adapter . Might be just easier to put the cooler on lol .
